I thank you very much for your message and the comments you made on the situation roma people in Norway, in the light of your own example. I was very pleased to meet with you in Oslo and I came back with a better picture on the way languages are promoted and protected in this country.

 

According to Article 16.2 of the Charter, we should forward comments to the Norwegian authorities. I would like to ask you whether you would accept that your letter are sent with the rest of the documents. I am not sure that this is specifically related to the language itself, but this would be a good opportunity to convey your message to the authorities. Thanks for letting me know in the coming weeks (we will send the document to the authorities early September)

 

If you also agree, I would like to pass your message on my colleagues dealing with minority issues (FCNM) and roma issues in the Council of Europe for information. Once I have your green light, I'll forward it to them.

 

As regards the Convention hosted by SOS racism, if you think it is relevant, I can send you brochures on the Charter for distribution to the participants. Do you have an agenda available to provide some input ? I am not sure to what extent the organisers would be interested by language issues.
